OUR JOURNEY SO FAR...

From the primordial soup of the active and extremely creative scene in the northern Ruhr area, around the cities of Herten and Marl, the band STARSEED emerged in the year 1995 of the modern era. At a time when many already believed the story of death metal had been fully told, STARSEED ventured into remote regions of the genre that had previously been explored by only a few. Fast, technical death metal, interwoven with aggressive solo duels, blast attacks, epic melodies, rapid deep yet intelligible growls. The deliberate and reinforcing use of keyboards builds an additional bridge to their, for some quite obvious, role models from Florida. Thematically, STARSEED fuses cosmic visions of long-lost civilizations, epic battles of modern science fiction, and the world-devouring pantheon of the hermit from Providence. STARSEED takes its listeners into a deadly, sterile coldness lurking in the depths of the known universe.

After two years of intense songwriting and extensive live activity, STARSEED entered the studio in 1997 to record their debut EP “Cosmic Conspiracy.” Self-released, the silver disc received very positive responses from fans, magazines, and fanzines. Unfortunately, the world did not seem ready yet, and interest from record labels failed to materialize - something many fans and media representatives met with disbelief. In the fateful millennium year 2000, STARSEED began recording their first full-length album. But again, the stars did not seem to align, and the band vanished quietly into the cosmic depths of the music scene in the autumn of that year.

Interest in the band and their EP “Cosmic Conspiracy” never fully disappeared, however. Over the following years, fans repeatedly asked for a reunion or a reissue of the EP. In 2019, the band received an offer from the underground label GS-Productions, which re-released “Cosmic Conspiracy” with new artwork in a small run as a digipack. The edition sold out quickly. Shortly after, the Chinese label Huangquan Records released the EP on tape.

To everyone’s surprise, STARSEED announced a reunion in the summer of 2023 with the original lineup. Preparations for a new album and a live program have since been running at full speed. The new material recalls the intense septic, cold, and atmospheric sounds of the 1990s, while adding a massive increase in intensity and a refined, precisely applied pressure that will have cosmic repercussions. The universe is now under their own control... the journey continues...
